Converse Netherlands B.V., a company incorporated under the laws of the Netherlands with its registered address at Colosseum 1, 1213 NL Hilversum (hereafter also: “Converse” or “We”), is responsible for the processing of your personal data obtained (a) on or via our European Converse websites (hereinafter: “Converse EU Websites”) and (b) on or via the use of the Converse+ or other Converse applications available on mobile devices (hereinafter: “Converse Mobile Applications”)
We are a subsidiary company of Converse Inc., with headquarters in the USA. Converse, Inc. and all of its European affiliates involved in the distribution and sale of Converse branded products will hereafter be referred to as “Converse”. All websites relating to Converse products or the Converse brand will hereafter be referred to as “Converse Sites”.
When you visit Converse’s EU Websites or use Converse Mobile Applications, we obtain personal information which you knowingly disclose to us. We request information when you make purchases, which may include name, address, telephone number, email address, gender or credit card information, when you request a catalogue, request to receive communications, when you register/sign up to become a Converse.com member, when you participate in any other website service, or when you become a registered user of a mobile application.
If you sign up as a Converse.com member and you expressly opt-in to receive personalized communications by email or sms messages, we will use your personal information to create a user profile. In this context, we may combine the information you give us online with other information from Converse sources, transactions and communications collected or processed by Converse. This may include data from the specific Converse EU Website, any other Converse Sites, specific Converse Mobile Applications, physical Converse stores, direct mail, on- and offline events, on- and offline contests or online marketing.
Once you become a Converse.com member, the data actively submitted by you on a Converse EU Website and on other Converse Sites will be registered in the central Converse database in the USA. Once you register to use a Converse Mobile Application, the data actively submitted by you when registering via the Converse Mobile Application will be registered in the central Converse database in the USA.
If you are no longer interested in receiving information, please refer to the header “How to opt out, remove or modify information you have provided to us.”
The personal information actively submitted by you on our Converse EU Websites or via the Converse Mobile Applications will be used for the purpose for which you have specifically submitted them, such as the execution of your purchase order, participation in a contest, receiving information from Converse, etc. We may also use this information, and any info collected by means of cookies or pixel tags to improve our Converse EU Websites, to improve the Converse Mobile Applications, prevent or detect fraud or abuses of our Converse EU Websites or Converse Mobile Applications and to enable third parties to carry out technical, logistical or other functions/tasks on our behalf.
Please note that we reserve the right to link personal data submitted by you on our Converse EU Websites or via the Converse Mobile Applications with other personal data about you that Converse may have obtained via other Converse Sites.
Furthermore, we may use any information obtained about you via the Converse EU Websites to personalize your Converse site experience and to allow us to deliver the type of content and product offerings in which you or our consumers in general are most interested to learn about, or in the communication with our consumers (e.g., via help chats).
All data obtained by us via a Converse EU Website or a Converse Mobile Application will be transferred to Converse in the USA, because the processing of your data takes place in databases in the USA. Converse in the USA complies with the U.S.-EU Safe Harbor Framework and the U.S.-Swiss Safe Harbor Framework as set forth by the U.S. Department of Commerce regarding the collection, use, and retention of personal information from European Union member countries and Switzerland. Converse in the USA self-certifies compliance with the U.S.-EU Safe Harbor and U.S.-Swiss Safe Harbor principles. We may share your personal data with other Converse companies to the extent this is necessary for the purposes for which you specifically submitted them.
For the purpose of operating our business, third parties (e.g. credit card companies, shipping companies, customer service providers) may process your data, however only to the extent this is necessary to conduct Converse business. Converse has procedures in place to ensure that these third party companies value your privacy.
We do not sell, trade, share or transfer your personal data to any outside parties other than Converse and third party processors.
Converse receives and records information from your browser when you use the Converse Sites and may use a variety of methods, such as cookies and pixel tags, to collect this information. Cookies are pieces of information that the Converse EU Website sends to your computer while you are browsing the Converse EU Website. Cookies work in combination with content within the Converse EU Website itself, to capture and remember information. For instance, cookies are used to remember and process the items in your shopping cart.
You can choose to have your computer warn you each time a cookie is being sent, or you can choose to turn off all cookies. You do this through your browser settings. Each browser is a little different, so look at your browser’s “Help” menu to learn the correct way to modify your cookies. If you turn cookies off, you won’t have access to many features that make this website more efficient and some of our services will not function properly. As cookies are used to track shopping cart items through the order process, it will not be possible to place an order.
We also work with other companies who use tracking technologies to serve ads on our behalf across the Internet. These companies may collect non-personally identifiable information about your visits to our website and your interaction with our communications, including advertising.
You have the right to withdraw any consent you’ve given with respect to our use of your personal data. Furthermore, you have the right to access your data, and to modification or deletion thereof at any time.
To modify your (email or sms) subscriptions or to completely opt-out of receiving Converse communication, please let us know by modifying your preferences in the “view or change my profile” section of any Converse EU Website. Please note that due to e-mail production and sms production schedules, you may still receive any mailings or sms messages that are already in production.
To delete all of your online Converse account information from our database, sign into the “view or change my profile” section of any Converse EU Website and click “delete my profile”. Note that if you request your account information to be deleted from our database, we may maintain information about individual sales transactions in order to service that transaction or for record keeping. This information will not contain credit details.
We use a variety of security measures, including sophisticated encryption and authentication tools to maintain the safety of your personal information. Your personal information is contained behind secured networks and is only accessible by a limited number of persons who have special access rights to such systems, and are required to keep the information confidential. When you place orders or access your personal information, we require the use of a secure server. All credit card information you supply is transmitted via Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology and then encrypted into our databases to be only accessed as stated above. Regardless of these efforts, no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure.
